Yippee, managed to circumvent the probs and back on track.
That's odd because I managed to somehow lock myself out of the internet for most of the day but I have clicked on something about Windows 10 and am now back.
Very pleased to hear that you can catch up with JB's excellent podcasts and will be interested to hear you comments on both past and future editions as before.

I thought the end of the pod on 'Kulanjani' about Taj's roots was just an excellent finish to a terrific tale, Lat - what a crew of musicians! Bring back Dr Duran, I say!

Kulanjani - one of Barrack Obama's favourites. Whereas this is never off Donald's golden turntable it seems

If Donald Trump had invested the loan from his father in the best performing international companies and done nothing himself since the 1980s except mow his lawn on a daily basis he would be massively wealthier than he is now. Not a lot of people know that - especially in America. Outrageous, alarming .....it's just amazing how fair people can be.

Right, Joe's just posted UU - The Staples Singers.
10 blissful minutes in which Joe reminds us of Mavis' astonishing baritone powers in her early years and Pop's links to the Delta blues which combined with the harmonies from the rest of the family to such great effect. Wonderful.

Don't take my word for it, hit your podcast link.
In the course of these podcasts, Global, Joe will occasionally make a bold statement...'these are the greatest gospel quartet', 'this is the best voice....', this is the most perfect record ever' and by the end of the 10 minutes Joe has me well persuaded. Thus yesterday...I need to go back and investigate some of those early Staples Singers records and listen more to them when they were 'never greater'. What a sound!

Excellent podcast although I like the 1970s version of the Staple Singers and the fairly recent solo records by Mavis so much I wouldn't like to choose an era.
He mentioned the Bulgarian but actually Romani Ivo Papazov. Here are Ivo Papazov and Maria Karafezieva from the 1991 CD Balkonology. Absolutely brilliant:

I saw Ivo Papazov (sometimes spelt Papasov) in 2008, on the same bill as Bob Brozman.
Bob Brozman was magnificent - a virtuoso with an elegant and entertaining patter.
I wish I could say the same of Ivo Papazov.
Truculent, constantly complaining that his clarinet wasn't loud enough (to the extent of stopping mid way through a track to harangue the sound man - more than once) this was less than enjoyable. Also berating his orchestra who seemed thoroughly miserable and down hearted.
We left before the end, as his behaviour was detracting from a distinctly average live performance.
Maybe he was having a bad night, maybe he had just cause, although the sound didn't seem that terrible to me, an average punter stood at the back.
He's been on the 'avoid' list ever since. Maybe it's my loss?

What a pity.
I have never seen him live but I did see Bob Brozman live with Takashi Hirayasu.
Joe's got us back in Cuba with the magnificent blind man, Arsenio Rodriguez...fascinating and wonderful stuff.
...and talking of Cubans named Rodriguez reminded me that Joe also did a pod on Cuban pianist Alfredo Rodriguez on 'C' first time round - Cuba Linda is the track that starts it off. Interesting to hear about the racism in Cuba before the revolution that Joe highlights in the pod.
