Sad to learn that Toumani Diabaté died yesterday in Bamako aged 58 after a short illness. A true master of the kora, rightly called The King of the Kora.

So sad to hear this news. Toumani was a true musical hero, a giant of African music. After 'Kulanjani' was released I was at a party and met a guy who encouraged me to buy 'New Ancient Strings' with Ballake Sissoko. I never met that guy again but have often wished I could thank him for the recommendation. One of my favourite records.

ps glad Lucy stopped the overdub & the Indian influence information was fascinating.
