She's got a beautiful voice has Karen Matheson, Lat. She's part of Capercaillie and I don't have a lot of time for that, but when she sings laments in Gaelic she is soaring. John - Exceptional timing. I have just stepped back in. The last time I will ever be allowed into a government building. Obviously it had to be done on a Saturday and under hoody. I half expected to see legions there with shredders.

As it was, very quiet and civilised. I grabbed all of the remaining meaningful objects - eg the nice soft avocet given to me by the RSPB - (fortunately it still twitters when I press it's stomach) - and then got out through the lines of tanks now stationed in the foyer. In the next life, I'll have to be a "climate change" sort of environmentalist rather than an "environmental" one.

And yes, the Big Society. The good news - My volunteering board had not been ripped down in my absence. The bad news - No one had actually looked at it since the middle of September. Oh well, that was then and this is the new world. Pleased to hear at least that Globaltruth is in the good care of McGrooger.

That is another beautiful song from Karen Matheson and very sensitively arranged. I do like Capercaillie as well - particularly "Delirium" - but they jazz things up a little too much sometimes. Traditional is frequently more moving than the overly commercial.

Sometimes I get a bit distracted thinking that Andean music is all about those pan pipes and then I hear Manuelcha Prado's guitar and realise how little I know, Paul - just great. Loved the Selim Sesler too - sounds like it was a great night.

I caught the last of it. Will catch up soon on the I-Player. Askarov is clearly a very impressive singer but I find the mugham far less accessible than, say, qawwali. Why should that be? I'm looking forward to the throat singers next week and find them extraordinary to see live. (sorry, I got McGrooger and Globaltruth the wrong way round - it's Global with the ankle, isn't it - it's been that kind of day!). Lat.

To answer your question - I'm not coping at all. To show off, I wanted to send you a slow air which I found on Spotify ok, but ...... that's as far as I got. I got a different album instead.
Anyway, it's on you tube too. I don't know if you know The Coulin - sometimes called Though the Last Glimpse Of Erin. It's one of my favourites. The musicians here are two local 'lads' prominent in the fifties and soldiering on until quite recently.
