Mr GG,
Q1.
Answer
"One World Chelmsford - Free Multi-Cultural Event Saturday 30th April 2005
One World Chelmsford took place on Saturday 30 April 2005 and transformed the Town Centre into a medley of exotic colours, sounds, smells and tastes. Over a hundred participants took part in Chelmsford Borough Council's first multi-cultural day.
Stalls and displays filled the Meadows and High Chelmer Shopping Centres and spilt out into the High Street. A small selection of the activities included Writtle College who held an Origami workshop, The Deanes School with various Chinese art activities and at the BBC Essex stand there was a chance to have a go at reading the news!
Three performance venues, at Backnang Square, Market Square and the Town Sign, ensured a lively atmosphere throughout the day. Backnang Square hosted English Country dancing, Ceroc Jive dancing, puppet shows and Bulgarian Folk music, whilst performances at Market Square included Irish music and dancing and African dancing and drumming. A stage was specially commissioned for the Town Sign for this event and featured Indian Folk dance, Flamenco dancing with live guitarists, Turkish belly dancers and a Scottish Folk trio "
