No playlist up for this fine show yet, though Oilrig did play another terrific track from the excellent MacAnuff and Fixi...top tunes what I've heard so far. Also a nice bit of South African jazz that was reminding me of that Abdullah Ibrahim and Johnny Dyani track, Namhanje, that Global and I batted back and forth on Spotty. And Natascha Atlas was very good indeed...fine band there. Most enjoyable listening as usual from MAK.

Well, being a self-confessed fan of N. Atlas I thought I'd wait and see what others thought - glad you liked it JC.
It was particularly fine - glad to listen to the r3 WM budget being spent appropriately; fascinating to hear how cultural collaboration works in France.

I would like to challenge Oilrig to do a whole Wo3 without playing any Celtic music just once though - just once.
but I won't worry too much if she doesn't accept the challenge
Perhaps predictably it's got to be that River Man track again, on another favourite station too, the sometimes excellent FIP

Oh dear Oilrig - do try and remember to switch your mike off when the band are playing....a self-confessed favourite and yet you spoke through the whole of their first track eh? Whoops!

        (funny though)

She's practising to do a Bob Newhart special, Global...only hear one half of the phone call...needs a bit of work to get a few more laughs.

It was a difficult for broadcasters concentration everywhere, knowing that they were competing with and not being able to watch with the attention required, the Knitting Night on Norwegian telly. And it was extra tough for MAK as the sheep klipper went in to action just as Wo3 started ...

I seem to vaguely recall the good Dr Lucy D doing something similar once. She bellowed:

'Oi, Meanwell, bring me an ounce of me favourite Malawi Gold shag and another pint of that honeyed rum & kelp broth'

Mary Anne had another, albeit briefer, incident with the off-switch last night. Terrific version of Katie Cruel early on. Nevertheless, and I like a bitta bow as much as the next man, the first 75 mins suffered a bit from just a touch too much of the fiddling, though I had been driving most of the day so maybe that was it. Anyway guests not much to my liking really - sorry. Apparently no Wo3 for a few weeks as the jazzers and some Brit bloke are taking over the next while - what else do we expect!

OK World on 3, we have radar contact...

Fad-ar contact might have helped too - now as long as we don't pull the one all the way over to the right, we won't empty the washrooms on you as well as leaving my voice on air.

Apologies for the technosnarf - can say hand on heart it wisnae me, but just the same a wee bit of a riddy for all of us, so I hope you all got to hear the unadulterated version again last night as the session was a great one.

Actually Oilrig, I rather liked the Capercaillie ft MAK - they should get you on the tour - but maybe that's just me. Playlist's still not up so still not sure who was playing Katie Cruel, though I heard Lauren McColl was in there - Salthouse I've just found...

Really enjoyed Friel Sisters from Friday evening's Wo3...terrific stuff...and the Quebecois trio sounded like a terrific bunch - however 'Joy kills Sorrow' killed Joy and I didn't stick around long enough to hear Salthouse doing 'Katie Cruel' etc...I'll get onto that LA.

Very much enjoyed the session with Eduardo Niebla on Wo3 on Friday night...and some fine sonngs in there rounded off with Venezuelan Simon Diaz, recently deceased, and his 'Bambolero - some great tunes, though I wasn't convinced by the Mauritius Heritage Track, though I won't tell her to her face - and I'm not sure about the Barbados doc - it didn't draw me in - sort of passed unnoticed.
Really enjoyed the Barmer Boys and Ana Alcaide; and Mary Ann obviously enjoyed her session with Eduardo.

Any complaints about Oilrig's latest show? Me neither, other than it was a few hours too short... Loved the Sidi Touré especially & that was a good didgeridoo session.
I've never mastered the circular breathing on mine....

I haven't done the playlister thing on it yet, but I will honest...

It was the first of the Commonwealth connections that's worked for me, G; might even download that one - and no arguments about Sidi Toure - top drawer session. Loved the mbira piece among lots of others, and the fado too.
