On my way home tonight I was listening to Mark Radcliffe's Folk Show on Radio 2, and he played a clip from Friday night's programme about D-Day. Jim Radford was a 15 year old galley boy on a Deep Sea Tug and his first trip was to Normandy on 6 June '44. He's a folk singer and wrote this song, 'The Shores of Normandy' which he sang, to the tune of Raglan Road, with the BBC orchestra - most moving!
