A poignant tale, Lat, if you listen to the lyrics and a spookily prescient tribute to that trendy film, the King's Speech.
Whatever happened to the little feller?
And, indeed, to Cynthia herself?
The same Q could be asked of PS.Last edited by Globaltruth; 24-03-11, 08:26.

I saw that King's Speech - the guy who played the speech therapist was brilliant, by the way - maybe he sorted out Mr Parrot Face - I'm sick, sick, sick up to here.

We've also put a lot of energy into the Spotty playlists and I wonder if that's pushed some people away - or maybe it was just always going to be quiet. I've liked it around these parts because it is a fine mixture - a bit like the music I like to listen to. And the layout here is good and it's not too busy. However, I suppose my concern is that we have gone below the critical mass which means that either me and you Mods have to work harder to bring scintillating issues to the fore, or we just sit around quietly and send the odd postcard home.

Maybe we should target the r6 messageboards...while they're still there. I posted on the Charlie Gillet & froots fora a bit ago but quite rightly they are all happy there...
MAK used to pop in from time to time. And Max R. does occasionally read the threads but doesn't post.
So if we don't scare up any new members maybe we'll just consider we are in a fantasy world with loads of guests who hang on every word but never participate.
I'm sure Lat will have some pearls of wisdom...hang on, he hasn't posted today either. (it is his least favourite day of the week though)

Well remembered Global. A lot of very important form filling to do ahead of my fortnightly execution. I was wondering if I might have put people off. I could withdraw for a week like Mr S and there might suddenly be a rush of newcomers. Obviously this is theoretical and not something I dare risk.
There are probably about ten or a dozen people I can think of who have posted. Most though don't appear often. We are still doing better than "The Verb". I know the jazzers were struggling a bit at one point and then suddenly turned it around. A bit of a network there when needed I think.
Mostly, people will do what they want to do. I have no objections to 6 and indeed 2, 4 and late night aspects of 1 being courted and there is overlap in many of our topics and styles. We might be suffering from the perception in many that 3 has nothing to offer them on the radio or wrongly above their heads. If I can sit here very happily, many could. I'm not exactly Steven Isserlis.
I do wish that we could get folk music onto 3 and also have an experimental music programme as they had in the seventies. Imagine if the late John Peel had been given a weekly 90 minute slot here and that had continued with someone else. I favour Maconie for that one I think - the combination of musical pitch, breadth and being identifiable although Hepworth would be very good. Then there is Garvey, Gideon and even Da Banc but I'm not sure if any wholly suits voice-wise. My third choice is Mr Ravenscroft because he has a now about him with a lot of echoes of then and is distinctive and even curious in that sense.
Unfortunately, these things aren't going to happen. Ultimately we could I guess merge with jazz but I find it odd. The fact that Charlie's people are not coming across, the numbers of listeners to the world music programmes not doing so and so on. Maybe we all should have a discussion with Mr S on what the principal gateways are reckoned to be commercially in terms of people coming into this genre from other areas. I think I sort of know and that probably isn't good enough. Lat.Last edited by Guest; 25-03-11, 12:53.

JC - How does "Wish Ya" by Dat Politics link in with "Captain Coulls Parrot" by the Peatbog Faeries?

And I think we all know who the Brothers Grimm are. I see that Little Not-very-red Miliband has been up near Sherwood Forest today asking the public for ideas. Seems to be the current way generally. With one wave of the magic wand, everything is going for free as long as it is in the direction of the politicians. He wants four years to form a vision apparently - a tortoise up against two wolves. I have a vision every four seconds in the nail of my big left toe but, sorry, I really don't want the responsibility.
