What's the matter with them? They don't look normal.

(Freaky Friday Fortnight - I was praised for my "model" job sheet today. If only everyone was like me etc. Where's the smug icon when you need one?).

JC, what is the connection between Neil Sedaka, Laughter in the Rain, The Show Goes On - The Very Best of, and The Louvin Brothers, The Kneeling Drunkard's Plea, Satan is Real?

Oh.....Neil/kneel...i get it now. Was very tired. Thought that you were saying that Mr Sedaka was the devil (always good to slip in a soppy, middle of the road song to make the chain even more radical!).

Is that woman from Croydon? I've not lived next door to her yet although it can only be a matter of time. With the dashing Mr Doherty and the winning Ms Winehouse if the current trend is anything to go by. Mind you, the one there now is quiet.

On the songs, Upper Norwood girls do not have quite the same reputation as those who went to Coloma Convent and Lady Edridge Grammar (the latter immortalised in Captain Sensible's song). Think Stainsby girls of the south.

PS Did you see that I found an R Crumb album cover a couple of days ago? He plays in that band apparently.

                    Spotify -counting the cost

Hmm - this Spotty thing, I've just had an extra bill from lovely old sleeping bumbling giant BT. Exceeded my download quota by several gigabytes apparently - well, yes, I suppose that streaming stuff comes from somewhere and ends up in our ears, and we have to pay for the privilege...anyone else having this kind of issue? Now, where's me CD's? Me vinyl?

Hi Global, I haven't had that yet but I'm sure you are sensible in staying with BT. Wish I had done that. I am having a few Spotty problems.

The obsessiveness of it obviously. Hoped you liked my broadcast on Radio (Spotify) Texas the other night, the station that dares to be different

But more significantly, they seem to be increasing the number of their adverts - I'm not sure if this is linked to use and it varies considerably according to the time of day - and I lose my connection to it a lot. Are you experiencing the latter problem much? Lat.

                        Nope, connection is good.
This may be because I'm a premium subscriber....or could be down to the performance of your ISP.
The number of links between the Spotify servers and your ears will be considerable. Any of them can be flakey at any time

(not your ears obviously which I am sure are fine)

We get a pretty good connection up here though that may be because the Spotty studio, where the DJs fire about looking for discs to play down the line to us, is just up the Glen here. And that's why they like us Spotfree customers as the ads give them a few moments to catch a wiz, nip out for a rollie, change a stylus etc in the middle of their busy days and nights.

Ahh to live in your marvellous parallel-reality country. The spotty dj's round here look like this
                            - that's the trouble if you live so close to big conurbations. They don't leave the cities much tho...

Round here, they used to look like this. Just four miles away, through the Ray Mears woods, up and down a few hills and a mile short of Jordan.

I'm not very sympathetic but in fairness he did do something for language. Hard to be precise but it was enough for R4's Michael Rosen, the Poet Laureate for Children, to choose his record as one of his DIDs.

(Incidentally, I like Rosen - the only "celebs" who ever bothered to acknowledge any of my posts on the old boards were Michael R, Charlie G, Ian Anderson and Annie Nightingale. When it happens, you have confirmation that some radio people are human).
