Why thank you but it has three shades and is all the better for it. I think my eyes gave out while drawing the musical crossword puzzle. But I like the way in which the fine lines interact with the splashes of colour, particularly around the supportive blocks.

I seriously think we should call it a day at 2000. It is probably best though to stick with Global's original title as that is more instructive to the visitor. It is has been an installation far easier to get into than exit. Now we have, I'm overcome with emotion.

Well I've interpreted it fairly broadly, Lat - but then work is a bit like that with me - I took it to be music that you listen to when you're doing something else, that enhances what you're doing. For example I used to play the Johnny Cash 'unearthed' when I needed to cheer the workplace along (or annoy some of my colleagues) and it always made for creative thinking - I love his version of Pocahontas. I've never listened to the updated Pirates Choice on the CD - I always had vinyl and managed to get it transferred to digital years back. Listening to it the other night on spotty surprised me; I realise the songs are very different versions from the ones I am familiar with - still love them mind you and can have them on anytime - of course I think the vinyl versions are superior - better sax for one thing in my opinion.
I also love the Brendan Voyage and can have it on around me - I do love that finale, 'Newfoundland'. The spotty versh is much the same as the one on my beat up old tape.

I think the concept is to provide the soundtrack for a person of indiscriminate age who is sitting at a desk working.
What is the music that will help them work? Is it songs about work? Is it soothing songs? Is it songs that occasionally remind them there is more to life than work, that force them up out of their desk and to put on their dancing feet for a few minutes break?
Is it songs that encourage concentration? Is it songs that provide a great depth and breadth that weave a complex tapestry which keeps them at the desk working?
The answer, my friend, is YES

....not sure really but would it not have been more appropriate to employ Brocksers?

Whilst "Working" has started quite well. I've worked out why people on this forum are into decent music. There genuinely isn't one of us who is younger than Clive Dunn when he first played played Lance-Corporal Jones.

It's a glorious morning out there so we thought we'd have a stroll round the neighbourhood - there was a right fire going in the field and this tune by EGVO popped back into my head after many a long year as an appropriate tune for our fiery boxing chums to listen to on their eye-prods.

I've edited out some of my selections thus the number on the work list is lower. Overall, I thought the challenge of unusual juxtaposition hadn't fully be met although the novel approach couldn't really be faulted.

As the weather here is weatherish I will have a nice walk around the supermarket. Wednesday also means Hastings Jilly but I bought her haddock from the van last week so it's going to be chops.

So following on from the JP discussion elsewhere I wondered if we should create a little homage playlist - what should be in his collection, what we know would be in his collection.

I have this vivid memory of a Sunday afternoon in Paisley; just below the Gleniffer Braes; using the radio as a goalpost; in 1969; listening to the Peel Programme; and letting a couple of goals in while being distracted by Marrakesh Express; so that'll be going in there - AK would not approve, I seem to recall.

but shouldn't it perhaps be plural? since peel show, at its best, was a combined effort between producer john walters and peel...(both mainly rather modest humans)

afaik, (at least, the 90s 10.00pm show) was them both responding to music often made, or prompted by listeners, and sent direct to the studio on vinyl, cassette and cd. also stuff peel and waters broadcast from their many contacts, ie music they discovered coincidentally. or music sent by small independent labels from here, and from around the globe (some musicians (usually resident in the uk) invited for extended beeb studio sessions).

meanwhile, we'll presumably stick with our copies of 'margrave and the marshes', tapes of the show, ignore the hype, and avoid more exploitative memories' of walters, and peel. repetition is cheap after all, which is arguably why the peel show existed initially, against the odds and contrary to the dominant dj trends on the rest of radio 1.

tbh i can't see the relationship between the current official remembrance project, which seems totally inaccurate.... to the point of random. (acdc ....my 'ears' ........as if..... )!
