Was it? I'm impressed. I've never asked but have undertaken some very detailed investigation and analysis. My conclusion is that the flame of passion was lit by Bernard Cribbins's Hole in the Ground.

Anyhow, I like this one - nice and simple:

From the thread 'Similarities in various pieces of music':

Does anyone know a French pop song recorded pre-1999, which uses the first movement theme of the JS Bach G minor keyboard concerto? I heard this on a holiday in Greece some time in the nineties, and couldn't figure out what was familiar about it. Once I recognised it, it became a sort of brainworm - wanting to hear the pop song again.

Obscure, or what? - I know. Put me out of my misery someone...
Excuse me barging in here ladies and gents but I thought I'd post this over here as well in a last desperate throw at finding this piece of music. Or any suggestions of how to track it down? If no one knows it, I may have to go to France to find the answer. Such a hardship...

        Mon kernel,

Étienne Daho recorded ' Timide Intimité ' with The Swingle Singers - but I don't suppose that's the one your ear is straining to.

Merci, Monsieur Paul: it's possible, and I will investigate further. It's not on YouTube, but his voice could be the one.

Paul, thank you so much for that kindness - but sadly, that's not it.

(I did go into Spotify, to which I thought I had free access, though I haven't been there in a while: couldn't find a way to get a sample, so must investigate further.)

Time for a new piece of work.

I'm not sure about this one - but think it may be good to relieve any pent-up emotions in the area of...

                let's give it a try.

Thanks handsomefortune. It was all getting too real so I did the obvious thing. Escaped to Bournemouth. Now there's a bit of a breathing space before the headbanging stuff with the Council starts again. The Ombudsman to be exact. Nice. Lat.

Plenty breathing space where I'm headed today Lat - off west to Iona - see if I can improve my golf swing.
                        Hope it'll be like this........

i hope bournemouth was sunny and gave you the space you needed lateralthinking1.

                            The Ombudsman

tell 'im i'm onto 'im'- lat! i've been measuring him secretly, and now is the time for him to make amends for the infamously appalling behaviour of local authority building control & planning. i have powerful binoculars and can see directly into the ombudsman's soul. fingers crossed, he's on your side lat.

the chaos is the very last thing anyone ever needs, unless they actually wanted to feel about as important as a flea.

everything'd be entirely different of course, if you were a major construction company about to build a supermarket, or student accom; they'd be stroking your ego, plying you with champaign, & boxes of twiglets stuffed with incentives. you'd be top of the pile too.

as it is, just try to ride it out with the minimum of vexation .

(btw what are the chances of jc playing golf in the sea? although they do things differently abroad, i know).

Thank you for the good words handsomefortune. A worry is that the Ombudsman likes the relevant information to be written in six or seven sentences whereas I have produced a report. I have though included summaries.

I am a bit calmer now - the tonic of the sea - but the position we have been left in is still disturbing. Fortunately the latest Spotify list has been a useful channel for some of the anxiety. Actually, I've gone raving mad with it but then it is a natural topic for me.

JC always claims to go to Iona to improve his golf swing at the time of the Masters. It is quite possible he is in that tournament as I write although he doesn't appear to be challenging Phil Mickelson.

I introduced him a while ago to some excellent golf lessons on The Spot. They have improved my pitch and putt skills considerably so he will have benefited from them even more as a semi-professional golfer.

Augusta it ain't fortunately - couldn't handle the white boiler suits - today was glorious out there if a touch chilly in the wind - the tips worked wonders G - but JB always says it better than me.
