      Global,

Thanks for the seasonal reminder - it's prompted me to go up in the loft and get the deco items down and more importantly
book a couple of the free tickets for the Carlos Piñana evening at the Instituto Cervantes, Manchester.

      Still some left, surprisingly.

Thanks Paul. Very good of you - and a nice bit of knitting. I like that kind of stuff, sort of, and blue frames are cool.

We need angels. The woman in the third photo here was the angel I was lucky enough to know, that is outside family which is always subject to some bias. The internet has its downsides. There is though something magical when a very positive memory is seen again visually after 39 years. It was just like yesterday when I discovered it in 2009.

Obviously the photo was taken sometime - somewhere - in the eighties and I don't know when she departed, so to speak. I would say that she was once the epitome for me of why we might have faith in others. A very, very, kind woman. Extraordinarily kind to me. Her husband is in the second picture and I also knew him a little. Nice man. We could do with many more of them now.

Sounds good Paul - but as for that month and two days away event there's still St Andy's day to get through next week complete with the first anniversary of the demise of

Here's another Andy inspired effort - some of the tapes are getting a bit stretched - Andy sounds like he's been sitting with his head in a helium balloon - some forgotten tracks in there and some old faves and some I couldn't find so there are either alternative tracks or nothing (eg a great track by Joe Mafela that's not the one from the show but is bloomin' brill and I hadn't heard before) - see what you make of it. All I make of it is that somebody should give him a show.
My regards for assistance to the avistic playlists who I notice number a certain Global jukebox DJ among the ranks.

Meanwhile I also have been 'busy'...

And including a Ms Matthews number, who used that very description in a note that came out of the blue, only yesterday.
( Another for GT's Ain't No Coincidences box - it's actually odder than that but I won't bore you with the details ! )

I'll see what I can do but I'm out on the road for the best parts of today and tomorrow and it'll be so tempting
just to listen to these latest lovely spots ( although that CM Handsome Family cover might take some getting used to ! )

Just (re)listening to Paul's Global electromouse lemonade playlist and this time I'm like digging that Ben Baruch.

To the extent that I'm wondering if he'd changed the track - he hadn't. Today I lust lerv the faux drama and grandiloquence...

                          Odd ain't it?

I'm expecting that 1 String Sam to be suing that Seasick Steve sometime soon too.

                            " Dear Radio Doctor,

Just recently I find myself enjoying the selections by a couple of spotty former youths
in preference to listening to most radio programmes.

Should I be concerned by this development or is it a phase that will pass naturally ?

                            Yours, in vat-return mode,

                            Paul "

                              Dear Paula

Thank you for your undated letter to the Radio Doctor. It has been passed to this Department for reply.

The Radio Doctor recently left the Corporation voluntarily under the BBC's compulsory redundancy scheme. She turned 31 in February and was therefore eligible for the new generous early retirement package.

This comprises a crystal set, a copy of Reveille from 1973 and a signed photograph of the late Sir Jimmy Savile. I realise that this will in no way answer your question but it complies fully with the current legislation.

If you were under the age of 17 on 13 April 2007 and have ever worked for the BBC for a period of ten years or more, you may qualify for additional benefits. Please go to bbc.co.uk/surveymonkey/theoldscroungers/ and complete the short 26 page survey.

If you are unhappy in any way with this letter, you might wish to write to the Chairman of the Independent Complaints Commission, Francis Fraude, with a postal order for £750,000 to cover administration costs. Alternatively, stop mithering.

                                ( 1973 was the year of my very first vat-return ... )

                                Wake up call !!!!
