    Here's me playlist...

Designed to be played in sequence, and, yes, that is Richard Burton.

...and very fine it is too, G! This effort has had its ups and downs , hit the buffers, gone off on the rails, but that's not the points, so I reckoned 'Publish and be damned'!

Cheers JC, slightly relieved that there is someone else still out there with the Spoot. Spotify have just released a new interface on the mobile platforms which has me a tad confused - I'll mebbe pop over to the Tech subforum and see if anyone else has anything to say about that.

Hey, JC, here's 12 minutes of the perfect video to watch while listening

Filmed in November 1903 at Edison's New York studio, at Essex County Park in New Jersey, and along the Lackawanna railroad and released in December 1903, The...

I reckon we should have our own show...or maybe we already have.

(o and we have Secret Squirrel subscribers too - that's also a relief)

You'd have thought an insect 16 million years old would have a song about it, but no!

Now closed off the Bugs Trax & published it to the world. And sent it to Paul S so he can listen to what he missed out on (hoping to tempt him back)

Just getting to know this. It's been around, but new to me. There's the air, the poem, the singer and the arrangement - all crying for comment. What do you think?
                            Hint - all fantastic.
The intro is helpful before you actually come to Aisling Gheal.
Words provided. Ist 2 verses only sung.

Well that was a delight Padraig. Thanks for the link & the lyrics.
I'm not too sure about the Crash Ensemble - I would have loved a plain unaccompanied version.

I hope Radio 3 chooses to invite Iarla to perform at some point or, better, that I have the chance to see him live.

                              Thanks

I appreciate your interest, Gt. You liked the air, the singer and the poem. Not so sure about the arrangement? Well, it's different. I must say I love it, but I think it takes Iarla to deal with it. However, I think you're right about an unaccompanied version - it's a sean nos air, and the performer is taking a big risk letting anyone else join him.
There is a version, with accompaniment (harmonium) which I like a lot. It's on the CD The Poet and the Piper. Seamus Heaney reads poems and Liam O'Flynn is the piper. It's not on YouTube - maybe Spotify? Track 11, Aisling Gheal.

Yes, it would be good to have Iarla on R3. It would be a nice change from Wagner and Britten!
