Eck's been a bit injured by perceived links to Trump and the digger, Lat - the leap wasn't really so great and he certainly didn't make the ground he thought in the west - it's a two-horse race up here - and the country is splitting, but at council level most of the candidates are largely uninspiring - Eck may be starting to regret having played such a long game towards independence, especially if Labour show any sign of resurgence down in your neck of the woods.
However, I think we are as bemused up here, as we were when USA elected Dubya, as to what the attraction of Boris is.
Anyway I better get off this in case I get into trouble from moderation.
Some nice tunes turning up on the JP playlist - I'm remembering some old faves that I first heard in the sixties and early seventies, when he probably had the most influence on me - I would put Communication Breakdown on if it was there - that blew me away when they were first on JP on a Sunday afternoon and I'm not sure Zep ever had quite that effect on me again.

Many believe that it is in the hair JC but it is hair plus name. Imagine if he were called Peter Johnson. That's it. The entire image is gone. There is also that thing about caution in a recession. The feeling that every recent political move has been a bad one. The ideal candidate is then one who promises to do nothing for four years. With Pete J, it is the next best thing.

It is a good JP list because it reflects a range of eras. My biggest Peel years were 1983 and 1984 in an extraordinarily long kitchen but there were years either side, particularly afterwards. It was in the adjoining room - a living room that was just big enough for a mouse - that I first enjoyed Led Zep 3. It wasn't typical of the music I was listening to at the time but I do like round shapes.

I have just had a week of experimentation. The title of the project "How to become a millionaire on e-bay" has now changed to "Strategy for cutting losses". Actually, it isn't too bad but I will end up with a few unexpected additions to my collection. The idea was to buy and then sell. Now I've seen all the selling prices and will probably have to keep them. I do though have a bid for a very late Echo and the Bunnymen album. If it goes through, the 99p will come in very handy and there are others listed.

So I will get Etta James's Blue Gardenia, Wynton Marsalis with the Jazz Messengers, Tomasz Stanko, Art Blakey, Joe Pass, Paul Desmond, Nusrat's The Last Prophet and, erm, Jimmy Buffett. The jazz people would be most proud of me. Fortunately every one was pretty inexpensive. All I need to do now is have a personal development course to bring me up to the standard of the CDs.

yes, the list's certainly grown a lot ...is that all you chaps very own work lat?

tbh i have thought about it, and currently feel it's not for me tbh. i think i'm 'virtually overloaded', if anything?

quite apart from the increasing drag of product placement virtually everywhere, i sometimes wonder if the peel spotify list is just jumped up market research for clueless beeb staff, (such as washername presenting 'the spoty peel inacuracies')?

my sincere apologies for being odd, grumpy, appearing paranoid, and non participant btw..... nothing personal whatsoever...just the current context of contributing.

i'm beginning to feel i'd much rather physically take a coach trip to the shetlands, via essex, (or wherever you lot live), and tell you all in person what tracks i like, (lend you an ipod ear plug to share....IF you'll listen) . we'd meet preferably, in a small pub used only by ancient locals, and possibly one or two farm animals. although even then, i'd keep it down to a whisper, and try to be brief! i'd write a list before leaving of course, so that i don't miss any personal faves out, and leave plenty of time to listen to your faves (respectively). then, get the coach back.... (although scotland.... it's probably cheaper to fly, but i'd nevertheless have my list ready, naturally, hidden in an invisible compartment in my top secret briefcase)

Essex? How dare you. Good ideas though.

I suggest we all meet at the Southern Ukelele Square Fest -

If it has to be the North, perhaps the folk night at the White Swan as it has very nice pets -

This Spanish-Irish-Polish one in London has quite a good jukebox but nowhere near as good as it used to be. Sadly, it has ditched the obscure Argentinian and Bolivian stuff. And I've just remembered. I don't go to London anymore -

Actually a couple of us keen listeners have met up previously. not sure it went that well...

If we did I strongly urge that, in this age of audio-bio-hazards/wierdo's on the internet, we take appropriate precautions

btw i've had jc's semi colons checked at the lab, they're counterfeit unfortunately.

i'll bring down a kleenex tissue with some better copies of semi colons inside, when i come. i'll drop them at the bar, just as i order a half of 'ol peculiar' ok? (just soak them in a jam jar of water), the ones jc used risk suggesting he had more to say, as his 'list' was too short to use them. though great to hear his radio was robust enough to use as a goal post, back in the 60s - a 'solid state' one presumably. (try that with your iplayer)!

I'm experimenting with colonic poetry at present, hsf, but I'm only halfway there - maybe I'll trade the faulty SCs in for a pack of ampersands.

....I can see that radio now all maroon and silver; none of that namby-pamby dolby sounds with tweeter and flutter protection - them were the days when a wireless were a wireless, and the aerial doubled as a fishin' rod. I was more likely to make the dramatic dive if the ball was going anywhere near the radio rather than towards the open goalmouth - that doesn't mean I got anywhere near the ball, by the way.

                      Meanwhile back in 1854

One of those counterfeit semi-colon's has not only escaped it has also slipped back through the space-time continuum. Find it here,

meanwhile, back to the music [maybe]

I thought it was a gravestone at first, G - which had me thinking that you don't often see a semi-colon on a gravestone - think I'll get one; unless they bury me at home; when I'll get semi-detached instead.

i wonder how lat's doing with his personal development course, and whether he got the 99p for 'echo and the bunnymen'?

how's the colonic poetry progressing jc?

                          you don't often see a semi-colon on a gravestone

in case it catches on, at high risk to the stone mason's thumbs perhaps?

top right of that gravestone, there's the bottom of a refugee ampersand, trying to make it towards the barricade at the edge. the sheer audacity of a hand written ink symbol imagining it could 'get away with it', especially while a whole range of stylised fonts are watching too. typical!

an interesting interpretation of 'branches of science' (i can imagine lartigue thoroughly enjoying that book). i keep meaning to inquire if you ever managed to bring your (heavy) jjl book back on the train globaltruth?

The JP playlist has come to a natural end at 250.

Is it time for a New Chain?

We do round numbers and then things drop from the lists. Politics for example. It gets my goat sometimes.

Still, quelle est la prochaine étape.
