Thanks Global, that's just one of Spotty's Mysteries. It is local to my PC but also on The Database.

No matter as Miri Magnon was waiting eagerly in the wings for an opportunity to perform.

Great to see JC & Lat getting into the Xmas spirit.

The list is shaping up nicely nicely now. Hitting the mark in Strasbourg apparently.

Over on the old r3 boards we're going out in a similar vein to the band on the Titanic. Play on, play on as we slip beneath the icy waves. Incidentally the Titanic was the subject of several old blues songs as a kind of code for injustice.

Just keeping the thread warm for Weds...

Them ole boards are history - but nice history. I'm struggling to find the kettle here - those 1000 songs are heading to 33% and PS, McG and DJG ain't been there yet - well something may have happened overnight (apart from snow!snow!snow! that is) - oh there's the kettle there - now where are the tea bags?

Hey lat is doing the work of 3 men. I feel as if I've been cheating posting whole albums - but what the heck.

I don't understand this at all. I was Art Noel until breakfast and only reconnected with my inner Lat half an hour ago.

Half way there on Dec. 1 - feels about right.

                    I've already discovered some's : Takahira Kido, Spring-heeled Jack.

We can do this - esp. if we can persuade PS & McG to lend a hand...

McG weighing in with some heavy-duty unarguable choices; will PS accept the challenge?

                      or even turn up?

(new readers could always click here , install Spotify and enjoy some/most/all of the it...or even contribute

A couple or so years ago, Verity Sharp commissioned a piece by Chris Wood (and Hugh Ripon?) about Mummers at Christmas. Whilst we could link to it, it was one of my favourite things ever from the R3 'World' thingy. Anyone got a link to it?

I have found this all quite addictive. However, having had three long enjoyable nights with it, I'm now stepping back a bit. A few of us have given it impetus and it would be great if we had many more contributors. That would give us more angles.

I have learnt a lot both from others and with my own research. It broadens knowledge quickly and also helps with learning other languages! I've changed my mind about Christmas records generally. There is a lot of good stuff from all eras.

The aim of one thousand hasn't been the only challenge. The options for world music in the purer sense are largely limited to where Christmas is celebrated. Africa and the East are poorly represented and while Eastern Europe has it's moments, this has required some poetic licence with fir trees.

Right click on your playlist title, Calum - choose the ' copy HTTP link' - then paste the link onto a messgae on the board - anyone with access to Spotty can then have a look and can subscribe, so if you change it they get to see it. Their profile will then come up and you can have a look at playlists that they have on offer. Then of course, Calum, you could join and contribute to, one of the collaboration playlists.

I'm pleased you did the explanation. GlobalTruth - Just in case you are rushing out into the snow to buy cds, Spotty has "Spring-Heeled Jack" on it's list but "Garlands" is by "Spring Heel Jack". There is a "Spring-Heeled Jack" but no dash and no "ed" is better! Lat.
