The Staff Benda Bilili doc makers were on R4 today - it's the last 5 or 6 minutes of the show - something to look forward to in a cinema near you (maybe) in the weeks ahead.

Thanks Global - the trailer looks just great - on World Routes yesterday Lucy said it was a film that she thought everyone should see - it's in our neighbourhood at the end of the month - think I'll organise an outing.
Yes, thanks, John. I would like to see it too, and I rarely "do" the cinema. This might be one of the exceptions. The commercial has been on Spotify. How do people feel about the "rebranding"? I'm not keen on it. I liked it better when they had Staff in their name - it had more rhythm and distinction. - Lat.
Got to see the Benda Bilili film last night in Dundee and a real joy it is. Great music, indominitable spirits and a wild view of Kinshasa. Regularly I found myself catching myself with a big grin on my face. Plenty good humour, a mad journey on a train with a guy bawling down a megaphone; an incredible Hand ball game with two teams that seemed to be composed of polio victims; a terrible fire; and an amazing train of these trikes in a line that could have come from 'Mad Max'. And then the music which was just terrific - lots of people in the cinema (not full enough) moving to the glorious rhythms and with the subtitles, a chance to understand what they are singing about - very moving. Get to see it if you can - it's not the most cinematically pleasing movie you'll ever see, but who cares - we came out feeling uplifted.
