Rather enjoying some old school Brahms.

Not entirely sure why we are having applause between the movements. Is this usual now?

Yes indeed some lovely string phrasing in that slow movement and some wonderful oboe playing throughout…

              Playfully weighty... or weightily playful.

This must be the slowest finale I’ve ever heard but it kinda works - makes a change from the usual helter skelter . Did Walter take it this slowly ? Whoa second subject even slower Furtwangler style ( I think ) ….

                  Encore - any guesses?

                  I’ll go Egmont Overture.

Oh yes please. Or the Academic Festival Overture! Played with similar grandeur.

'Swat Brahms might have expected and maybe even got.

As we are all chatting away whilst the music is being played, I think we have to accept that there are now new ways of listening and showing appreciation.
