It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Pretty unimpressed with the two new works . Paled into insignificance compared with the Tippett the night before - a piece that’s hardly ever performed now. The Rach 2 was ok but nothing special . Didn’t hear the Tschaikovsky - might catch up on the repeat

wrecked 1st part as an old war horse was bedecked with inappropriate miserable music which may well have suited a film about the death of mining in the area.
as for the fact of the measure - another heard once thankfully forgotten

Perhaps I shouldn't have bumped it, but Not This Way is usually a helpful piece of information.

I heard part of ‘The fact of the matter’ in the car but was not sufficiently impressed to listen again on Sounds! Rather dull and devoid of tunes!

The pianist was Denis Kozhukhin rather than Alexander Gavrylyuk?

I was quoting your link rather than your good self as fount of all knowledge. The excellent Andrew in his listing and BSP in his calendar agree with the reviewer: Denis Kozhukhin. Mr Gavrylyuk sadly withdrew 'due to health reasons', says the RAH.
