But at only just over an hour's worth of music (never mind the quality.....) I certainly wouldn't make the trip.
Yes, gone are the days when we'd get three RVW symphonies in one concert!

One reason why the arena is the best place to listen from.

Relocation from SE4 to SP2 means it will be very much pick and choose here. Pre-Covid, attendance was limited by how many rehearsals got in the way of gigs; that's not so much a problem now, as our current outfit has one prom, but that will mean serious travelling costs. At least it's a substantial work.

Is there a way of searching the BBC Proms site by composer? I seem to remember this problem happening on previous years, too.

Oh - almost missed out Dausgaard's Nielsen.
As the Rattle Mahler 2 is on the telly I removed it from my planner...I can sense it might go back on, along with Prok 3 & Dvorak 7 (never heard the Mandarin) Perhaps I should blow everything and make it my last ever prom? Until I see next years programme...

Don't know about the BBC site, but Andrew's just posted one-page listing does that: search the page for the composer's name and at the bottom (below the concerts) there's the A-Z listing of composers and the works to be performed.

Haha - just pipped Andrew at the post!
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

This seems to be working now - it didn't seem to be yesterday. (The link is buried at the bottom of the main Proms page, under 'Composers & Works'.)

Andrew, thanks for your own listing. On the BBC site do you mean this page? I can't see a "Composers & Works" link there, I'm afraid.

My first thought on seeing this was; 'Surely, that's not the whole programme'?

There's an ideal place to put a Birtwistle piece in as a starter. I'd suggest Ritual Fragment.

The LSO and Rattle are the only ones to have programmed any Birtwistle, and even then its only 4 minutes long.

I don't think Andrew's link is working. I posted the link just before him in #35

Not sure if Index of Works (with A-Z of composers) and Index of Performers are supposed to be links, but they aren't at at the moment. Search on the word Index to go to them.

Neither can I, now! I think I had only gone back one stage from the Composers & Works page to look for the link: it's actually a two-stage process from the bottom of the page you quote, via the "Proms performance archive" link, which takes you to the page which contains the "Composers & Works" link. I'm sorry for misleading you. (I hope there won't be an inquiry...)

However, the link which I posted should take you straight there.

The link I posted should take you to the BBC Proms Composer index - it works here. Please let me know if it doesn't work and I'll investigate.

The Index of Works and Index of Performers in my listing should link back to the entries in the listing itself (by clicking on the blue concert title on the right). Clicking on the blue concert title heading in the main listing should link to the relevant BBC Proms page. Again, please let me know if this isn't the case - I've only tried it on one browser.

Andrew, thanks for that. But I obviously didn't make my original question clear: I was asking if there was an alphabetical composer guide specifically to this year's season, not to the entire archive.

As far as I'm aware there isn't such a guide just for the current year on the BBC Proms site. You could try this, as mentioned above by FF, but with the caution that it's dependent on my code working properly...

Am I the only one who finds the absence of such a search facility surprising (to put it mildly)? Does the R3 audience really care more about who is appearing than what works are being played?
