I listened to the Schoenberg Concerto, for perhaps the first in 20 years, the Faust recording, on Qobuz . After 20 minutes of assorted squeaks, squawks, and blatts , I gave up, as I tired of straining my neck to interrupt the Serial Killer that I was sure was going to appear behind me at any moment to do me in. I know, I am a hopeless case that can’t begin to appreciate the greatness of Schoenberg, as people have been informing me for decades now. Igor is welcome to it, I’ll take Beethoven, thank you

I've long had the Amoyal/LSO/Boulez recording in a cheap Erato Ultima 2CD set, but never really got on with it.
I listened to both the Faust and the Hahn, and at least survived them (even though I'm not from Warsaw!); indeed I ought to give them another go.
Like bluestateprommer, though, I wonder if IS's comment wasn't really something more attributable to the Robert Craft factor.
