I don't think I shall be tuning in for the mash-up/medley all all the Beethoven symphonies - hopefully not including Wellington's Victory.

I see Salzburg festival are going to have concerts with live performances from 1-31 August ! I wonder if the possibility of open space concerts , like ' Proms in the park ' throughout August was investigated?

You've got to admire the 'never say die' attitude of David Pickard and his team here in not officially cancelling the season and putting in the work to create something that can still generate some genuine excitement. Well done!

The archive Prom season was one I mentioned on here a while ago (as did others) and will hopefully be a fantastic opportunity to hear again some of the very many memorable evenings I've had in my 42 seasons in the RAH.

I find myself looking forward to it.

            Agreed..."mash-up" really?

            Edit:

"Live Music: From Friday 28 August our ambition is to have musicians performing live at the Royal Albert Hall across the final two weeks of the season, culminating in a poignant and unique Last Night of the Proms celebration to bring the nation together. The range of work will vary from solo performances to ensemble work and feature some of the greatest musicians of our time alongside emerging talent. We will reveal the full schedule of events nearer the time allowing us to respond to the latest government advice available."
Wonder if that will include the Trifinov Beethoven 3, mentioned above?

Widely quoted in newspapers, Gramophone magazine (and probably elsewhere).

I do hope the 5 or 6 proms from the archives to be shown on BBC4 range a bit wider than the last few years. It would be wonderful if some of the televised performances from the last century are shown rather than just the last five John Wilson concerts.

I hope we get to hear the Bernstein Mahler 5 that everyone raves about, and the Mahler 9 with Abbado. They probably won't, but I'd also rather like to hear them re-air the Runnicles Gotterdammerung. And the Bychkov Elektra.

I'm sure the BBC are doing their best, but unless they can provide an unsoaped standee who keeps moving their fat head in my eyeline, I will be losing an essential part of the Proms experience. Not to mention the overpriced and mediocre refreshments.

You can recreate the proms atmosphere at home by dressing a dummy in your unwashed clothes and standing behind it. Then, during the interval pour yourself a glass of warm white wine, and throw a tenner in the bin.

Ever heard of "listen without prejudice...."?

I never listened to so much Beethoven so intensively in my life as I have with New/Recent Releases last few weeks....so Mash-up... bring it on....

.Remember the Proms spirit and principle....Go on, give it a go...

The Wellingtons Sieg . . . from Orchester Wiener Akademie and Martin Haselböck was a little more than just a bit of fun, I thought. I have not given it a second hearing, as yet, but I might, tonight, since new episodes of Young Sheldon have disappeared from the E4 schedule.

Is an ability to bob up and down erratically not also a key requirement?

Why assume they won't? I was present at all of those, apart from the Bychkov Elektra, and would love to hear them again. It's a great opportunity for the BBC to bring out their best and with an 8 week season to fill I'd say there's a every chance of at least one of those appearing.

Apart from those, I'd like to see two Beethoven S9lti Proms that were televised: the 1982 Missa Silemnis and the 1996 9th Symphony. Both unforgettable.
