    BBC Welsh

Interesting, this orchestra sounds nothing like the BBC symphony and the recording balance is different.

    (tuning in Brahms...ahum...)

Let's see how they get on with the dissonances of Wagner, they have done that often enough. :daff2:

Did you never see Bernstein's TV lecture about exactly that piece and the "revolution" in harmony it introduced?
      Pity.
(and Bernstein was a composer after all)?

        Cymru am byth

Well, I got to say it.
Which part of the world map are harpists best situated?
Wales of course, another excellent harpist (of course) ...quite clear in Tristan & Isolde.

Gotta say too, the wind and brass good stuff going on in there.

          Yes

          But it's hardly "dissonant" IMV

I was more interested in the general orchestral balance.
The general feel is far from refined, with a much weaker cello section than we have been hearing recently (there's a lot of vacancies in there?).

Being used to the vast powers of Russian choirs and voices, I'm suprised to hear the general level of the solo performers far below what I would expect from the UK capital of song, and this goes with the general shakiness of intonation between sections of the orchestra.
            WHY?

Vast and powerful indeed ... or fast and bulbous?
