Take a musical trip to the Moon with favourite CBeebies characters and presenters. A brand-new work by Hans Zimmer – film music’s living legend – is the centrepiece of a Prom celebrating this weekend’s 50th anniversary of the manned Moon landing.

I'm not sure what age range these concerts are aimed at. CBeebies suggests pre-school.

Perhaps I'm missing the point, but I can't see the link between the supposed theme - trip to the moon - and the music. It looks like a selection of wellworn/known 'pieces', with a theme rather irrelevantly and uncomfortably tagged on.
Is that a reflection of the limitations of the presenters, who I suspect are operating outside their comfort zone when making contact with the world of 'classical' music-making?
While any opportunity to facilitate young children(and their grown-ups) to access such experiences is to be encouraged I'm not sure this is a goldstar effort.

Possibly - I would hope that the CBeebies presenters & characters would be talking to Chi-chi Nwanoku, who has excellent communication skills with young audiences (a latter-day Atarah Ben-Tovim).

Well, they're not pleasing you, or me for that matter, but nor are they intending to.

However the first of the two concerts is apparently sold out, so that's quite a lot of people who are expecting to be pleased already. Or at least quite a lot of adults who are hoping that their infant charges will be pleased, even if they themselves sit through it with gritted teeth and an enormous gin in hand.

I'm a little disappointed by the failure to include Jonathan Miller's No. 4 hit in the UK singles chart, especially in the light of NASA's current campaign to acquire funds so that it can return to space.
