Witness the Heritage Orchestra, with Jules Buckley and special guests, slice up and reimagine these iconic tracks that spawned breaking and formed the origins of hiphop - a culture that has risen from a single moment on the sidewalks of the Bronx nearly 50 years ago.

The concert will feature historic and modern-classic breaking tunes from James Brown, Incredible Bongo Band, Babe Ruth, Herbaliser, Madcon, and Poets of Rhythm, alongside LIVE breaking crew 'Soul Mavericks’, UK turntable royalty DJ Switch, singer Alice Russell, and many more.

I'm afraid I shan't be able to make tonight's Prom, as two of my oleanders have developed the dreaded leaf scorch and need round-the-clock TLC, but I look forward to reviews from Forumistas who will be in attendance.

We shall give Ed Stourton & Co a miss in favour of the Prom on BBC4.
I happened to catch a glimpse of 'Question Time' last night - surely it was a mistake to have SIX panellists, as each would automatically assume that he or she won't be given a fair crack of Fiona's whip (now then …!) in the time available.

I work a day or two a week from home, ( honest boss) and until recently had a small room which doubled as CD storage zone.
Actually I mostly work in the much loved kitchen diner, so decided on a whim that the idea of having a room essentially devoted to work was a thoroughly bad idea. So the work stuff was all decommissioned, and now I have a listening room with CDs etc close to hand.
Which is stupendously good for the soul, and so much nicer generally.

OK, folks, using the proper thread for this Prom, which EA set up to load a while back for this specific purpose .....

Only catching part of the 2nd half (I was listening elsewhere during Part 1 of this Prom), but in my admitted ignorance of all the various BBC radio channels, this one sounds definitely one that could have crossed over to Radio 1, Radio 2, or Radio 6. Ironically, on Radio 2 now, the presentation for "Friday Night is Music Night" is the John Wilson Prom from this year. The Heritage Orchestra is certainly playing well, and this has a nice retro vibe from 1970s funk, and related pop music. No, it's not 'classical', but presumably this Prom's idea was all down to Jules Buckley, kind of a more contemporary counterpart for John Wilson, it seems.

You’re very polite bsp. Maybe a choice between class on 2, and crass on 3 (Dumbed down funk). Only criticism of JW’s concert is that he could have had better vocalists - not keen on the delivery of ‘If ever I would leave you’.
