Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah - but if you criticize other for posting the same thing every year, then you shoot yourself in the foot if you're as guilty yourself by posting the self-same criticism very year.

As I have ,as far as I know , never dismissively criticised the Last Night of the Proms (in its entirety) nor have I criticised those who have chosen to do so may I permitted to point this out with a promise not to do so again in future ?

Ah, as host you've checked, damn!!. On the superb listings you meticulously prepare for our enjoyment and ease of reply, maybe the Last Night thread can be placed in a special appendix just for original contributions!!

Not where my interest is concerned.

I watched this (apologises for the duplication) and remembered halfway through the significance of the day.
Ensemble Le Poème Harmonique led by Vincent Dumestre perform the programme 'Anamorfosi – Miserere & metamorphosis' with Neapolitan religious songs by Claudio...

Correct as ever, sir! Reminds me of the reactionaries on those rags after the June 2016 result, with the europhobes getting on board their yachts and wining and dining. Now I shall and put on my lederhosen or similar rags.

LNOTP is a GLORIOUS celebration of European culture

(though I was sitting in the dark listening to microsound in more channels than I could count )

No there hasn’t been in the past endless repeats, just a fortnight of concerts over the Christmas/New Year holiday. Sorry DracoM but I’ve no idea what the last part your sentence means. As a national broadcaster it’s supposed to be catholic in approach and appeal to as many niches of taste as possible. In its radio stations, for example, it has a jolly good go at doing that.
It’s been a great season IMHO which didn’t look fantastic on paper at the start but in the detail has been superb in quality and programming from Warner film scores, through Handel’s Jephthah, Mixtape and Bruckner with Haitink, to name just four that I enjoyed amongst many others.

Fair enough - I just lazily googled the lyrics and it came up as ‘shall’ - I will, or even shall, however, continue to sing ‘shall’ - don’t like changes!

...and I guess that older viewers are choosing hitting the sack earlier.

Laura Mvula was captivating, and I cried when opera star Jamie Barton took to the stage with a rainbow flag. Shame the conductor spent the entire night with his back to us

From what I heard on the radio it seems that Mike Cox's facial hair exclipsed everything else

Just another point - I may be wrong but isn’t it usually ‘shall’ rather than ‘will’ in Rule Britannia?
I was in the Hall, and I agree - the second half didn't really catch fire. As for 'shall' and 'will' - the old perennial - the word printed in the programme is 'will', so that's what I sing, and those who disagree are what I shall choose to call wrong. I have programmes for over 25 Last Nights to back me up. I accept that that's a weak argument when applied to the obviously wrong words given for Auld Lang Syne - so far as I am aware they were last printed correctly back in the days of James Loughran - but there's no way around it. If we are to sing at all then it's best if we all sing the same words, and that means singing what is printed in the programme.
