    Proms on i-player

Help needed. Just returned from a longish holiday and am anxious to catch up on some of the Proms I've missed. Are they all available on i-player? For instance I can't find Olivier Latry's organ recital from August 4th.

Welcome back, ardy! All Proms are still available here:

... the Latry gig is here:

Live BBC Proms. Organist Olivier Latry performs Bach, de Falla, Liszt and Saint-Saëns.

      Thanks Ferney. Silly me

Loved the NYO Prom and thought they did the Prokofiev brilliantly. Hope all the filigree solo bits for woodwind came over OK in the Hall. The brass + wind en masse was tripled, I think, though I noticed that where the horns play in the stratosphere, just a couple of players did it...and to perfection. Thought the selection of movements excellent.

Welcome Mr A. Yes a brilliant NYO and especially the horn section. I think just the odd numbered players went for the top notes, the high note specialists and they nailed it. The first horn, Annemarie Federle, did really well in the last BBC Young Musician when she was 15. Should be up there in the finals next time round IMHO.

Diverting this thread from its original purpose, sort of, after a fashion (as is BSP's wont), it's worth observing, at least from this side of the pond, which Proms that the US public radio program SymphonyCast chooses for airing on US radio airwaves to us ignorant Yanks, to get at least a selection out to an American audience not familiar with The Proms. SymphonyCast always includes the First Night and the Last Night, so that leaves 7 or 8 in the middle to fill in. This year, it was 7 additional Proms rather than 8, as in past years. Going in order (which, BTW, allows you guys to catch up on some that are past their iPlayer date, although I've occasional issues with the audio off SymphonyCast's page):

          1. The First Night (BBC SO, Canellakis)
          2. Prom 2 (Bamberg SO, Joshua Bell, Hrusa)
          3. Prom 8 (BBC SO, Isabelle Faust, Eotvos)
          4. Prom 17 (BRSO, Gil S., YNS)
          5. Prom 32 (WEDO, Argerich, Barenboim)
          6. Prom 41 (LPO, Ghindin, Jurowski)
          7. Prom 46 (CBSO, MG-T, a.k.a. "The Sheku and Mirga Show")
          8. Prom 61 (VPO, Kavakos, Orozco-Estrada)
          9. The Last Night (BBC SO, Oramo)

Given the safe tastes and gauging of the US public radio audience for classical orchestra broadcasts, most of the choices struck me as typically 'safe'. The relative surprises were the choices of Proms 8 and 41. Prom 46 would have been more of a risky choice if the cellist were not Sheku and the conductor not MG-T, since both of them have gotten a lot of good buzz even on this side of the pond. Anyway, your chance to be bemused at reading the minds of how the SymphonyCast people think.

Random thought: has it ever occurred to anyone at R3 perhaps to air some of the PCM's from the summer as "Proms Repeats" during the Lunchtime Concert hour? Or perhaps that involves rights negotiations with the artists in question.

Random thought: has it ever occurred to anyone at R3 perhaps to air some of the PCM's from the summer as "Proms Repeats" during the Lunchtime Concert hour? Or perhaps that involves rights negotiations with the artists in question.
Thanks for the resource above. Will dip in once I have finished Christmas around Europe!
