I've filled in the Forum calendar for this year's Proms, as well as the 15 Edinburgh International Festival concerts from the Queen's Hall that R3 will broadcast this coming August (barring our idiot Preznit ending modern civilization before then, of course). Not all the details are complete, to be sure, and those will be filled in later, like details on the crossover and Late Night Proms where full program details aren't yet available. You can jump ahead to July, August, and/or September, to be either amused, bemused, appalled, or convinced that BSP needs to get a life and get out more . The format pretty much follows the formula that I've evolved over the years, with various detail tweaks as needed (or not).
(A) Starting with The Proms, the usual granular discussion from BSP as to the layout and various caveats:
* Hyperlinks out to the BBC Proms' and RAH's webpages for each concert are present for each listing. For the duplicate concerts (CBeebies, John Wilson, Symphonie fantastique), I've clarified which of the pair of concerts of each will not be broadcast on R3.
* For now, I have included the embedded hyperlink to the general BBC TV schedule of all the Proms set for TV broadcast. I will add individual links to those iPlayer TV relays when the times get closer, from BBC Four mainly, but also BBC One and BBC Two as needed.
* In general, a blank line indicates the interval. The exceptions are the Cadogan Hall Monday concerts, which obviously have no intervals, and where grouping in each calendar entry by composer, and using blank lines to demarcate between composers, is more pleasing to look at, IMHO, like The English Concert and Louise Alder performances.
* As usual, I omit the running times of works as my own personal quirk.
* From manually searching the Proms Performance Archive, I've included "Proms debut artist" and "Proms debut ensemble" for artists, and "first performance at The Proms" for works, where appropriate. Proms works that are world / UK / London premieres don't need that designation, to state the obvious.
* As with last year, given the increased emphasis on performing more works by female composers at The Proms, I specifically have spelled out female composer in the summary header by her full first and last name. As I also said last year, one can ask whether this is a good or bad idea, but given the relatively low traffic that the Forum Calendar most probably gets (probably 1/500th the traffic of Andrew Slater's one-pager, ironic since it takes me 500x longer to enter the data), it may not be that big of a deal.
* I will continue the retro-addition of encores during the season, to allow the Forum Calendar to serve as an archive, since each Prom calendar entry immediately dates once the event has hit.
* Getting really granular, I noticed places where the start times on the BBC Proms listing and the comparable RAH listing for a given Prom don't jibe (i.e. one may say 7 PM and the other may say 7:30 PM). There are also a few instances where the standard evening Prom is listed with a 7:30 start time on a night where there is a Late Night Prom that always starts at 10:15 PM. Since nights with two Proms never have the 1st Prom set to start at 7:30 (because of the need to allow for stage rearrangement for the Late Night Prom), I have gone with the 7 PM start time (listed as 19:00) on those dates. Those are very few and far between, to reassure that this is not a widespread phenomenon.
* As well, the only place in the Forum Calendar currently where I'm ahead of everyone (BBC Proms, RAH, Andrew Slater) is the name of the new Benjamin Beckman work on Prom 32. You'll have to look at it to find it out, though :) . (For the record, I tracked it down from Carnegie Hall's website.)
(B) Edinburgh: there's much less to say here, because the EIF concerts required a lot less data entry. Not all of the program details are complete on the EIF concerts. As well, on most of them, I've guessed the interval out of the blue, probably incorrectly in many cases. I'll retro-add any encores as well. If in the mood later in the summer, I might even add the R3 iPlayer page links for each EIF concert, although that might be going too far, even for me. Only a few of the listings spelled out specifically where the artist/ensemble is a debut artist/ensemble, so that may be another point of refinement later.
The usual general closing disclaimer applies, namely that I may have introduced my own errors in creating each listing. I will correct any mistakes as I learn them, besides adding updated information.
