I suppose that could be described as a "trace" - as in nutrient listing on food packaging?

Kudos to whoever was involved in getting the single-page Proms listing up so quickly.
'tis Andrew Slater, maes - to whom all thanks.

Negotiations have reportedly already started on which of any remaining BBC orchestras will be renamed to reflect this exciting new development. Prommers above the age of 45 will have to pay a surcharge so that younger 'fans' can enjoy preferential ticket prices.

      I thought as much!

I've removed the question mark from the Thread title as there's no longer any speculation involved in what's on when. The Thread has now become one to discuss what to look forward to - and what's missing - ahead of the individual concerts discussions.

Any errors, please let me know. (I know about the Cadogan Hall moving to the RAH on 19th August - a BBC error!)

          I'll update the sidebar later.
Briliant, as ever. Many thanks Andrew.
Although I now have a complaint. Looking through this list I've found a couple of concerts I missed on the Proms website. So now I've added to my 'can't afford' list!

I was intrigued to see that Nathalie Stutzmann is conducting the Mozart Requiem. I don't know whether vocal problems meant a change of career, or she was always intending to conduct at some stage. It's not unheard of, of course (Barbara Hannigan comes to mind) and I don't know whether she is still singing as well.

She has been conducting for a few years now, and I believe she initially studied conducting before switching to singing. Her conducting career has taken off in the last few years, but she is definitely still singing. Indeed her most recent recitals on CD have seen her conducting and singing! She also has her own orchestra, Orfeo 55.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

That last sentence needs to go into the past tense, because Orfeo 55, to quote from Monty Python, "has ceased to be" as of last Thursday, partly because Stutzmann's conducting career has taken off to the point that she didn't seem to have enough time for them:

L'annonce a été faite sur les réseaux sociaux durant la matinée du mercredi 24 avril 2019. Les raisons évoquées : la situation financière de l'orchestre ainsi que le manque de temps disponible de sa directrice musicale Nathalie Stutzmann.

                    So it goes.

Regarding Proms to look forward to, the Monday PCM's, now "Proms at...Cadogan Hall", are always a treat, and very much looking forward to.

As for the 2029 Proms, I expect the perennial Bernard Haitink to conduct his own 100th birthday concert. It'll probably have Bruckner in it or something.

The violin concerto was completed in 1904 and revised in 1905. The 5th symphony was completed in 1915 and revised over the next 4 years. That's between 10 and 15 years. (Just saying...)

Went down to RAH this morning to order my season tickets. By the time I reached the till (9.45 am) the Cadogan Hall seasons were sold out, though Albert Hall arena and gallery seasons still available. Never happened before. Last year there were loads of empty gallery seats at several Cadogan Hall Monday lunchtime Proms.
Either the pension age Sloane Rangers are getting more internet savvy - or more likely the corporation have cut the quota of season tickets for some reason.

More likely is the fact that the sound quality in the gallery at CH can be poor. In other respects the venue is excellent: accessible, great location, light, airy and comfortable. The sound waves don't seem to travel, though. I attended Jean Rondeau's lunchtime prom there last season. What sounded like a thrilling performance was marred only by not being able to hear it very well. At the time a fellow Forumista described the sound upstairs as 'muddy' and said he'd stopped going, so I know I'm not the only one to have experienced this. Anyone about with any technical expertise in acoustics who might be able to shed any light on the issue?

I finally got hold of a Proms guide the other day, opened it up to the performance pages, and promptly had to fight the urge to be sick. Does the fluorescent red/pink font affect anyone else as strongly, or is it just me?

Unbelievable! In at position no 135 at just a few seconds before 9.00. All paid for by 9.08. Best yet and, for once, stress-free.
