Same here. Now do I seriously consider a season ticket this year?

Any errors, please let me know. (I know about the Cadogan Hall moving to the RAH on 19th August - a BBC error!)

        I'll update the sidebar later.
I'd like to add my thanks to Andrew for his generous, community minded and considerate contribution.

        Best Wishes,

Thanks Andrew, I always print this off to keep in my diary over the summer.

My question about the 2029 (sic) season was in response to an amusing mispirnt (sic), now corrected, in a message from Barbarollians.

LMcD, I clearly need to read posts more attentively.

Let’s hope some of us will still be around to hear the 2029 season. Anyone know what’s likely to be on?

Very useful - I'm going to add my thanks and expressions of gratitude too. How about that for tautological statements!

I wondered about searches - but of course they're easy to do in a browser such as Firefox. As a result I discovered that 4 Shostakovich symphonies are scheduled - 10,11, 1 and 8. There are also 3 pieces by Weinberg.

I asked for delivery to and collection from the store, but apparently that's likely to be on Friday (online purchases come through a different company!). However, the assistant in the store was very helpful, gave me a copy from stock, got me to sign the paperwork I went with (a printout of my order), and said that she would sort everything out when the copy earmarked for me got delivered to them!
How terribly annoying, Pulci And of course it was hot and sunny and York was packed with visitors I'm glad you had a good experience with customer service at Smiths, that's all. Can't the publishers and distributors get their marketing better organised than this?

Just a thought ... this time last year someone on the forum reported that their copy of the Proms Guide 2018 didn't come with a fold out poster. Mine did but it arrived later by mail order. Is it perhaps the case that some issues do and some don't? Keep us posted.
And the tune ends too soon for us all

A week of concerts devoted to film and religious music by, among others, Messrs. Williiams, Zimmer and Jenkins, and a fortnight-long mini-season devoted to extracts from every work in Classic FM Hall of Fame- which is fair enough, because the BBC will have commissioned them to run the festival. Negotiations have reportedly already started on which of any remaining BBC orchestras will be renamed to reflect this exciting new development. Prommers above the age of 45 will have to pay a surcharge so that younger 'fans' can enjoy preferential ticket prices.

There's an index of works towards the bottom of the page, linked to by the 'jump to prom & index' menu button - this link should get you straight there:

Clicking on the related prom text (in blue) at the right hand of the list should link back to the text in the list.

Below that there's an index of performers:

According to the blurb writers, Prom 20 is going to, and I quote:

...trace the evolution of Finland's classical tradition...
...apparently Finland's classical tradition only lasted 8 years, and it started and ended with Sibelius. Violin Concerto followed by Fifth Symphony.

As for the 2029 Proms, I expect the perennial Bernard Haitink to conduct his own 100th birthday concert. It'll probably have Bruckner in it or something.

Kudos to whoever was involved in getting the single-page Proms listing up so quickly.

Well, if it's going to trace the history of the development of those works, it's going to be a pretty long concert, what with two versions of the concerto and three of the symphony.
