Yes, GF mentioned to Georgia Mann, when asked about any wardrobe surprises, that his "Canadian reserve" (eh) may come into play. You'll see on TV in a few minutes (I'm typing this during the 'Hornpipe').

I was more concerned about the state of his voice than his wardrobe, but high notes excepted he managed it very nicely. The dreadful TV direction managed to miss his flag unveiling, though - twice!

I can't say that bothered me: it was outside the concert proper and showed some fascinating bits and pieces which I rather regretted missing.

Apart from the park cutaways which still don't really work in TV terms (I simply got annoyed at not being shown what was happening in the Albert Hall) the one thing about tonight that I'd happily see the end of forever is the childish antics during the Sea Songs: hugely embarrassing and horribly intrusive.

Enjoyed that first half more than any I can remember. So did me ol’ mum who’s watching with me!

This might be the best Proms season in a very long time, right down to the last night.

.. and the first time I ever watched it without my own, late, war-veteran mother, for whom those big songs - Glory, Jerusalem - meant so much...
with the inevitable result....I never saw it coming.....

I think the wonderful cello soloist in the Sea Songs should get a mention. Quite the most beautiful Ive ever heard it played.

I cannot abide Andrew Davis's bumptious speeches and I find most of his conducting pretty boring . A Last Night to miss for me .

He was superb. Though I wished he had given us some more G&S...after all these years.
