(I don’t follow what your last phrases are about).
There has been at least one documentary on the YM’s 40 years, broadcast near the competition earlier this year.

Just wondering whether this kind of Prom damages the brand by putting off those who had seen the Proms as 'more serious'. Presumably the Beeb has considered this and decided that the gain and loss balance each other out with a net benefit of punters and radio & tv audiences.
(CF discussions passim about Essential Classics etc etc.)

The Times points out in its two star review that there was 100 minutes of music and 80 minutes of chat . Somehow perhaps some of the chat could have given way at least to the missing movements of Carnival .
I thought the concert sadly typical of the BBC's dumbing down attitude . The BBC commissions with the exception of the Gershwin arrangement were second rate in the extreme . A horribly missed opportunity.

Like others here, I too didn't like the newly-added transitional music between the selected movements, but obviously for desired continuity purposes.

I watched some of the concert on catch-up last night, remote in hand. When I thought things had gone on long enough, I fast-forwarded.
