    Proms Extra

Not surprised that there has been no comment since 2015 (judging by thread titles) about this programme which is normally toe-curlingly awful (though I do sometimes try and fast forward to catch David Owen Norris's two moments on a specific chord).

However I happened to catch a bit of tonight's, and shall watch the whole thing: a distinct cut above the rest, with Iestyn Davies and DON himself on the sofa along with composer Errollyn Wallen (a rather good piece by whom I heard in a concert at Snape last weekend).

Worth a look at this particular edition of the show I think...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh, I do watch it if I'm in. I DO enjoy shouting at the T.V. - you can probably guess why!

Some of my colleagues find DON irritating, but I enjoy his theoretical expositions.

ID is very pleased with himself, with good reason, I suppose, but it grates.

I do program it in the pvr for the season....often watch it over supper..it's OK....and as aforementioned, Katie Derham seems much at ease as a TV presenter & a sharp dresser too...

She's not too bad in this role. That's her forte.

You must have strange toes because I find this programme consistently excellent and KD is in her element here and knows how to engage with her guests. A great asset to the season, long may it continue.
