So - no, Jayne - the trailers are not always effective at drawing us to what we might wish to listen to.

This is quite funny really: on one "Bernstein" thread I get told off for being enthusiastic, recommending works and recordings, and trying to encourage others to listen, so I shouldn't really write anything here unless it's a contribution to a thread that should be called: BERNSTEIN TRAILERS COMPLAINTS DEPT.
But on the other almost no-one wants to contribute, because it's about last week's this week's composer... a third thread might be just a little self-defeating...so.
I remain dismayed at the sheer tetchiness of responses to posts which I always try to inject with a tone of friendly enthusiasm, "try it you might like it" etc...

As for the trailers, I take the Caliban approach and reach for the off switch once the handover back to Broadcasting House takes place. Other than that it's the mental off switch. Lord knows, I've had enough practice in that over the years!"The sound is the handwriting of the conductor" - Bernard Haitink
