2...I am not in favour of negative discrimination and to suggest that I am is offensive.

So you can take your collective smugness and virtue signalling and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.Fewer Smart things. More smart people.

It will be interesting to see how these pledges work out.
The must be a chance that those with external ( Arts Council and other ) funding, EG Kendall Calling (?), will be in a stronger position than purely commercial organisations to implement the changes.
A festival like Green Man probably doesn't have much financial leeway, and needs to sell as many tickets as possible. There probably aren't enough female headline level acts, of the kind that their audience will pay for, to go round all the festivals, so if Green Man decided it wanted to commit to 50/50, they might inevitably be in the position of filling the earlier support slots with female artists to make the quota, because people tend to pay big festival ticket prices for the headliners.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I go to Wickham every year, ( more Folk orientated than Green Man ?) and had the impression that there was a much higher proportion of female acts that actually turned out to be the case when I did a count. Nowhere near 50/50.
Which is not necessarily to say that female acts at particular levels of popularity aren't getting a fair opportunity, but probably does say something about the perceptions of , well, people like me.Last edited by teamsaint; 29-03-18, 17:19.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. I don't see him doing ANYTHING in music education apart from teaching the piano.
