The type is larger in the link provided but much smaller on my computer in Andrew's lists.
I can sympathise - the laptops I use to access the Forum give a very different "view" from that when I use my Tablet. (On the latter, the background is blue, and it doesn't show me the "What's New" box at the top of each page.) I don't know why this is - when I first used the Tablet (in May of last year) everything was the same as on the Laptops, only smaller.

My version is a blue background and it is fine. For the record, what still looks like retinoschisis more than anything else and is unchanged in two months may in fact not be retinoschisis as that apparently is unusual in a myope. The alternative I was told is that it is chronic, stable, retinal detachment. Contrary to what the latter sounds like, in both cases quick surgery is generally not required and if it is still the same in December they might even sign me off. None of that is especially reassuring - it means that it could get to the stage where surgery would best be required but they wouldn't know what they were dealing with. Anyhow, I try to keep undue visual strain to a minimum now although basic pc use with breaks is alright.

I always override the blue mobile/laptop screen by opting for the full version, which is much more flexible.

??? I use two Laptops and both show the full red screen all the time. It's only the Tablet that displays a blue version. (But how does one "opt for a full version"?)

I'll see what I can do to make the text more readable; I'm not able to do anything at the moment - it will be sometime next week. In the meantime try the 2 column pdf version which should be easier to blow up.

Note that most of the proms are broadcast, but certainly not all, e.g. one of the Lincoln and one of the Young Musicians proms. The title line for each concert on the online listing links to the BBC page which should indicate broadcasts

The online listing is supposed to land on the current day, but it seems to be landing on the previous day. I'll try to fix that next week.

Ah! My bad; I thought tht only broadcast Proms were listed there - apologies

I'm glad you mentioned this - I thought it was just my machines!

Are there any Proms tickets left?

I have never been and wouldn't want to turn up on the off chance.

I would find lunchtimes preferable but recognise that it tends to be chamber stuff which isn't ordinarily my favourite.

Also, does anyone know of any opera event that is truly outdoors like outdoors Shakespeare?

You can buy a standing ticket online in the morning for £7, and then pitch up any time. But obviously the earlier you get there, even pre booked, the better spot you can get in the arena or gallery.

Go, you won't regret it. there is a wider mix of people than most comparable concerts, some of whom may even speak to you, should you enjoy that sort of thing, great orchestras, ( where else can you hear the world's best orchestras for £6 ?) and the acoustic is adequate for most people.

( Or there are circle seats available for quite a lot of concerts at about £15/£20, which are fine).
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

                      Thank you ever so much.

I think I will investigate as it is something I would like to experience at least once.

                      This isn't a picky individual.

Just someone who would ideally like to live in a one bedroom detached bungalow which is a concept that is generally not recognised nationwide.

Do investigate. If you are happy standing, ignore all the stuff about rules, just buy a ticket and go, the stewards and Prommers will show you the ropes.

Its a great atmosphere, you really feel as though you are at an event. Which you are. I love going, and usually stand in the arena, but the gallery is fun for the right event.

You need an RAH account to book online, and I would suggest booking at or soon after 9.00.

Never rely on having to buy food at the RAH. sandwiches cost about £18 or something, though the Arena Bars can be pleasantly calming with a £2 coffee. I find the shops round Gloucester Road better than those at South Kensington to buy supplies.

You need to set up a niche development company to cater to like minded bungalow dwellers. Colin Moulding did a nice song about such matters.

Thank you - that is very, very, helpful.

I've just picked up two very good seats for the RVW London symphony concert at the start of August. There are almost always either seats left, or returns for more popular concerts during the week before... (if you don't fancy the promming option teams has covered).
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Can't see that this article has been referenced anywhere yet (I'm not a subscriber so haven't read it all, but the gist is clear...) re: "clapping between movements"

The Proms have arrived and, to the anger of many traditionalists, so has clapping between movements. The performance of Holst’s The Planets at the Royal Albert Hall prompted anger on classical music websites and social media after outbreaks of applause greeted the end of Neptune, Mercury and Jupiter
"...the isle is full of noises,

That, as you probably know Caliban, is my favourite symphony of all time.

Perhaps I should try tomorrow morning.
