Not like the good old days when it was designed to match!

Tried that myself with the same result. If you connect your TV to your amp you'll find that the sound is pretty good. If you trying to escape the wittering of KD it's not too bad tonight.

Yes . Her vibrato does seem to have got more pronounced since the wonderful Tristan she did at ROH a few years back. Gershwin doesn't suit her . Leave it to Ella ....

She did refer to 'Wagner's iconic Tristan and Isolde,

Yep, that vibrato was a bit much. A chair for the Prelude and a bottle of water might have saved her voice? As for part two: Where's Ute Lemper when you need her?

She did get going a bit on the last Weill item.

God, these intrusions from the various parks are tedious

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

The last time I saw her was the Proms Salome and she was good then. She never had a really big voice (I remember when she sang at ENO) and it sounds like she's taken on too much, like so many Wagnerians.

Yes, a reasonably enjoyable evening until all that nonsense.

I wonder in Christine Rice would have been a better choice for the Weill AND Rule Britannia. I've heard her sing Weill and she's very good indeed.

Hmmm...... Cut off Scotland and Wales before Britannia, yet still on with NI for Land of Hope & DUP. Is this what 1.5bn gets you? BBC should be ashamed.

OMG the sound quality in "concert sound" for the encore of "Land of Hope and Glory" with the entire hall singing and the organ at full tilt was stunning. Occasional gripes here and there this season, though I think fewer than previous years, but overall I have to say my experience of these concerts through the big woofers and also on earphones fully confirms the triumphant return of the BBC's world class expertise in broadcasting classical music to the masses. This year I have felt more than before an experience of really "being there" with the prommers and enjoying the unique atmosphere of that crazy miracle of a building.
