    Sorry to read this, Bryn.
I guess that, even if the concert features in the Chrismas/New Year repeats, it may well not be broadcast in Concert Sound or binaural.

There is a possibility that the binaural version will be made available for a couple of days or so on the Taster pages, though it's not there yet. I will keep my eye on the situation. Re. the Concert Sound option, there may be a way round that too. I live in hope. I have at least now heard the HD Sound version via the iPlayer Listen Again facility. I think this the finest performance of the concerto I have ever heard, and they are not a few.

The encore was the first movement of Ysaye's fifth violin sonata.

Terrific concert all round. Another titanic symphony tonight. Friday will seem like light relief. Can't believe we're nearly at the end already

Yes . Maybe a bit too much Shostakovich for me in the season overall, though. I agree with what boilinthebag said the other day about there being other Russian composers they could have chosen in a 'Russian' commemorative season. Maybe they should have Alina choose. Good to hear some unknown Stravinsky pieces, though.
And the tune ends too soon for us all

Glad I picked this one out for the trek down from the North. AI is some class act technically as well as musically and great to hear and see live. Every note carried with clarity to the back of the stalls. Hope we can persuade her to make the trip to Yorkshire occasionally.
The Symphony was one huge story told with clarity and fantastic assurance. It was very exciting to see as well and would have made great television. What great Symphony performances we've been treated to this season.

The Flac stream failed for me too, at the start of the Shostakovich.

I thought it was a terrific concert. So much so that I was slightly puzzled by the relatively quiet applause at the end of the Shostakovich - perhaps the techies turned the faders down.

Wow thanks for this Ferney. I'll be there sans everything.

I have yet to check the Shostakovich (TR). Let's hope mine held out. Will PM you when I have listened to it.

Echo your thoughts on the applause johnb, I bravo-ed from my armchair

The applause didn't sound that quiet from my second half seat in the stalls, JB.
The Concerto got the greater ovation, but plenty of audience enthusiasm for the symphony .
