    This was one prom I really wanted to go to but I still have health issues ongoing. Usually go to around 5 in the season.

      "Better in the hall" I'm sure. Tenor definitely an acquired taste, too - which I've clearly neglected to acquire.

      I remember E-M W as a tender and lovely Sieglinde at the ROH 10 years ago (if memory does not deceive), and Simon O'Neill a passable Parsifal in 2013 - obviously she's 10 years older now, perhaps time has taken its toll, but is it partly the size of the hall which forces them to bawl like that? Karen Cargill seemed to take it in her stride and sounded magnificent so it can be done....

        I think you may well be right. E-M W sounded in wonderful voice last time I heard her at Covent Garden (last year).
