    This looks a decent option anear the Armouries.?

    £12 for 24 hours and not too far from the station. Manned and open 24 hours. I've parked there , very well lit and decent. It's £19 for 24 hours at Leeds station.

      Surprised that there aren't more comments on NB's astonishing performance of the Shostakovich Violin Concerto No 1.

      Perhaps the travel posts could go on to another thread called 'Getting to the Proms and Staying in London' thus enabling those so inclined to offer and take advice on cheap rail, good, cheap accommodation and cheap eats?

      Let's hear it for Nicola Benedetti who completely laid to rest any notion that she's not good enough to stand alongside the greats with what could well be the best concerto performance of the season.

          Not a work I care to hear but I am delighted to read of Ms Benedetti getting just reviews . Three outstanding violinists in a week with Batiashvili and Faust and we still have Frang and Mutter to come .

            I have to admit that I struggled with this concerto for some years but once it clicked it really clicked. Suggest that you might have a similar experience with this concerto as you did with the Bartok VC 2 a while back.

              It's a shame the mods don't get a grip on this sort of off topic stuff.....

              anyway, completely agree , she was really terrific, although I never had much of a problem with her playing.
              there's a tempting looking disc with the BSO and Karabits . Might have a listen to that. I got the feeling that the work might have suited her tone which can be quite up front at times. Also, I felt the sound engineers had her thoroughly to the fore, giving her every opportunity to shine, ( or possibly not if having a less good night).

                It's not that I don't admire it but it has sad associations which mean I don't like to listen to it .

                          Just managed to catch up with the VC on iplayer .... rather special IMVVHO ......

                              Worth listening to on the binaural recording. What a fantastic performance! The BBC have really struck gold this year, both in "Concert Sound" and binaural. Who knew the RAH would turn out to be such a lovely surround sound recording venue?
