    Prom 54 to be trimmed?

News that all fountains in Rome have been switched off due to drought conditions. Will this mean a cut to Prom 54's programme, or a substitution?

They've been fed up with tourists bathing naked in them for a while now, probably just looking for an excuse.

    Something by Peter Sculthorpe?

It's a short enough programme as it is!

Or some early Steve Reich, perhaps? He got it taped.

But will the tourists vote with their dry feet and only throw one coin in the fountain and bankrupt Rome City Council?

It was being suggested this lunchtime that the Vatican was getting fed up with tourists stripping off naked and jumping in the fountains. My guess is that the nuns had never seen anything like them in their lives before.

I thought this was serious for a moment. The bigger question is, why don't they play the Festivals as well? If you're gonna play two of them, you might as well play the third one. As you say, the programme is short anyway, so it's not like it will run exceptionally late.

In short, and in the current "Baths" situation, the result would be bathetic, maestro.

You don't know much about nuns.
