I think you want this link

Another chance to hear broadcasts of selected concerts from the 2017 BBC Proms season.

Well, I'll be doing that (again, having just done that now), given the e-job that I'll be working on over the next few weeks here. But one point in terms of "economy" is the scheduling of two performances by the John Wilson Orchestra of Oklahoma!, given the JWO's popularity, and the Proms management is obviously taking a chance that both [performances] will sell out.

I can see where Barbirollians is coming from in a first impression impression, from just a first glance at the season. However, some immediate surprises hit me, like Martinu's Field Mass with Hrusa, and Kodaly's Budavari Te Deum at the Last Night. The "Proms at" series outside of the RAH has some nice tweaks as well. I confess that I wondered about the Cincinnati Symphony, because they're going to be at Edinburgh, and the Pittsburgh Symphony, because they'll be on tour in Europe as well, but I didn't have the guts to speculate that they might be coming to The Proms. It'll be the Proms debut for the Cincinnati SO, and the late Chris Newman would have been very happy to learn of the Pittsburghers' return. I suspect that I'll notice more surprises in the coming weeks, as I look again (and again, and again......).

In fact they are on the same day! Both matinee and evening performances. Poor JW (+cast +orch) will be worn out by the end. I guess they are catering to a certain demographic with a weekday afternoon concert of this repertoire!

Anoushka Shankar taking the baton from her late father! Excellent.

I received the guide this morning, giving me a few hours' start...

I do think it is a rather 'thin' season, but more to the point: where's me wall chart/poster?!!

I have a wallchart in mine - looks like you had some bad luck there.

Now I've completed my first draft plan (which is way over my budget) I can't find a way back into it. Would like to print the detail out as well

more than happy to see that the TV-themed Proms are on the way out i never thought that was the way to get new audiences always just seemed like a gimmick one that proms could do without.

I think there must be some mistake in the website
the La Monte Young seems to be missing
                      no John Cage
                      no Feldman
                      no Eliane Radigue
nothing to remember Pauline Oliveros ?

and it seems mostly to be music by dead white men ?????

Sadly, Prom 15 with the music of Scott Walker looks a missed opportunity.

Disappointing to only feature music from 50 years ago, when much of his most extraordinary music is from the last 20 or so.

                        And " Godlike Genius" ?

He really doesn't need Julian Cope's endorsement.

Anyway, I'll soon find some good stuff in the listings I'm sure, but dear god, just for once could somebody schedule a season, any season, of classical music and leave out the Sibelius VC. I mean, we all love it, ( well I guess most of us do ), but even so......

Am I correct in assuming that Prom 32 should actually be on Weds August 8th ? apologies if this has been flagged up already.

Anyway, Jeg's Faust is certainly high on my hitlist for this year.

Shows both Prom 31 and 32 for 7.30 on Tuesday 8th.
But I'm sure you are right.

Curious - not on my browser - renders Prom 32 under Wed 9th which matches what the printed guide says.
