One recent development I deplore is the removal of a proper concerto from the first half - who can forget Ida H knocking out the Saint Saens 3 in 1989 .

Hear, hear. Some meat on the bone, or theme to the pudding, would be very desirable.

God I cannot stand this ruddy Borodin din.

Well it's a choir who do what they are told, so you'll have to blame somebody in charge.

Why is JDF wearing 'white tie', only with a black tie? Is this a European thing?!

He did the Offenbach piece perfectly for this occasion.

Maybe you should frequent better quality pubs!
There are almost never any fights in the pubs I go in, because the customers know better than to piss other people off. If I were you, I’d stick to the off licence.

I meant the Glolovkin/Kell Brook fight on Sky. Dad’s Army rolled over to TLNOTP, so I’ll go later.

Enjoyed the opener. Although I haven’t intentionally listened to the Borodin for years, I thought it was delightful. Looks like a good concert.

And would be great if one of the New Generation Artists were to perform a concerto on the Last Night- the Britten,Borodin and Butterworth could easily have made way

Yes. The Cenerentola didn't go so well, as it started at about 100mph! Rather difficult 'cold'. Poor programming.

Sakari has lost, or jettisoned, his carnation. Droop.

Jonathan Dove's probably recycling it as we speak. We just heard a pale imitation of Harmonium.

                              Rather dull, wasn't it?

Why couldn't we have a few Strauss waltzes or something one year rather than the usual opera arias and token five minute contemporary commissions?

Petrushka has summed it all up for me.

Visited my brother this afternoon and he is thoroughly looking forward to it all.
