    ...and a good one, but no. There were two distinct copies on the stand, one emblazoned BRUCKNER and the other (in equally forthright capitals) WAGNER. Some of the orchestra members were shuffling their music during CT's 'curtain calls' in apparent anticipation of an encore.

      Thanks, UTCT. Lohengrin Act 3 prelude, which we got last night, or something else? Intriguing.

      Something from Walkuere would have been appropriate as I see from the programme that the only surviving motif in the 1877 score of Bruckner 3 is Sleep?

        I often wonder about this. I fancy that I spot a reference to the chorale that opens Die Meistersinger after the Prelude (Da zu dir da Heiland kam) in the finale of the Bruckner 3.

          Yes, there is. If you go to IMSLP online score library you'll find a photocopy of AB's autograph of the 1877 version, which has the composer's title-page designation of the work as "Wagner Symphony".
