Understood that this didn't provoke huge enthusiasm from forumistas, but I do feel that Proms like this, and the Ten Pieces, are potentially valuable in getting very young children used to 'going to the Proms' and hearing music that many would be unlikely to hear otherwise in a relaxed, fun setting. I gather Ten Pieces is a project which is intended to continue.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

What about the parents? I imagine a lot of them are most likely to be put off by this being in The Prom where you see all those Posh Orchestras and Super Posh conductors (Look what they are wearing…) etc. On the other hand, it might attracts parents by that very reason (and not for the musical benefit for children). I suppose if school can organise a visit, it may be a good thing for children.

Not sure that the Bank Holiday when so many families have other plans was a great idea for it .

It all looks pretty informal (no posh conductors) and if parents are actively encouraged to bring their very young children I don't imagine even parents who think of the Proms as formal will be put off. I would hope it was promoted on CBeebies …
