    He was a terrible judge and deserved the boot . He sat on judgments for ages and forgot the facts . He was generally considered to be vile .

          He had his moments, but I think you've overgeneralised there. There was, I think, only one case in which his decision was overruled as unsafe because of delay - the one which led to his resignation (I think he'd been suffering from illness at the time).

          Anyway, I can think of one current judge who is worse.
