I do wonder who is on the BBC's PR team.

This particular concert is highlighted on Facebook with the caption:
"One of the most beautiful treble solos of all time.
    No, YOU'RE crying."

    What are they about?

if "negative" comments about performances are disapproved of, I hereby declare that the rest of the proms season will be absolutely wonderful and faultless. I think that just about covers it. No need for further comment.

Sadly, this is very true. The days of the great shouts (e.g. "Put another shilling in the meter!" when the electricity failed; "Arena to Choir: Do you know the a capella version?" when the Berlin Phil were late coming on for Mahler 2) seem well and truly over. In fairness, the charities shout is a requirement of the agreement with the Hall that makes the collection possible, and since it's almost the same each night the Radio 3 presenters can hardly be expected to make room for it each time. All the best shouts are spontaneous responses to the events of the moment, and one never knows when the opportunity will occur.

Having heard the requiem, now, I really enjoyed it. It was the chamber version of this work, so, it was, as well. Very intimate and quite engaging. Not forgetting the Pie Jesu!

Richard Morrison in the August BBCMM suggests that even the best conductors overstay their welcome after about 15 years. This definitely applies to SC at Kings. Both DW and PL moved on in their prime.

Perhaps the same could be said about music critics. I haven't read The Times since it went tabloid - and Morrison seemed to have been there forever even then.

Oh Blimey, they did, didn't they.... on the TV transmission at least - surprisingly sour sound at times

Stunning exception - as pointed out by Cornet IV, a heart-stopping performance of the Pie Jesu - what technique and nerve that lad has!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Stephen Cleobury has now announced his retirement next year. See for example https://twitter.com/3choirs/status/758727020444614660.
