    Off-air recordings of concerts.

Recording Proms concerts on a Freesat box was a hit and miss affair in previous years. If the first half had overrun by a few minutes' the music would be rudely cut off on in mid-flow. I just wished they wouldn't separate the concert into two "episodes".

It's good to acknowledge that this has now been remedied, and that the whole concert, including the interval material, is classed as a single programme.

Of course, rather than recording a concert you can't listen to live, there's always the opportunity of the repeat on Afternoon on 3. However, these get later and later as the season goes on and the BBC cuts off these repeats as soon as the last concert has taken place. I suppose the increased delay is a result of the effect of the many days when more than one concert takes place.

Solution: have all all repeats on the following morning at 9.00 a.m. When there are two concerts to repeat, the second one can be in the afternoon.

        Sounds like a win-win situation.

If in the U.K, or possibly if abroad but using a VPN linked to a UK site, the iPlayer offers an HD Sound option for some 30 days after the last repeat broadcast, IIRC.

Actually I think the increasing delay in repeated concerts is caused by the repeats in Afternoon on 3 only happening on weekdays, whereas there are concerts at the weekend as well. Even if there were only 1 concert a day, there would still be 7 concerts a week, and only 5 slots for repeats.

The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

might be new this year but the first night was repeated on Sunday and Boris didn't get a repeat, so, so far, we're not far behind ..... but point taken.

You're lucky :( My digibox recorder flatly refuses to record radio programmes, for some reason. If I want to record audio, it has to go on the DVD recorder (which is happy to record radio), or I have to plug something in to a computer :(

If you have a Mac, and don't object to breaking the iPlayer EULA Google "iPlayer Automator".
