      Glyndebourne had their production of Ulysses there in the 1960s. I think it was then that operas began to be 'semi-staged' at the Proms (but they didn't bring the flying machinery with them ).

      On the subjectof Monteverdi, I think there was a performance of the Vespers in Westminster Cathedral in the early 70s. There seemed to be more interest in trying different, appropriate, locations. & I'm sure there are many here who remember sitting on the stalls floor at the ROH for the Ring during a Proms season.
