It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

I've been to the Gyndebourne Festival three or four times in the past decade or so, and one did dress up for the occasion, just because we were in a party and thought it would it would be jolly to dress up for the opera: there was no code enforced, and I suppose that you could just turn up in jeans and tee-shirt if you wished. (thankyou Philip for getting us tickets, by the way)

And it is true that though we had to stand for the performance, it only cost us 10 pounds to get in. Bargain!

Richard Barrett shouldn't be too sniffy about dressing-up for the opera.

After all, this is how good socialists dress-up and get about town these days.

And is that the kind of spots car tha most of them drive (or have driven for them by their chauffeurs)?

By the way, don't you think that you should now deferentially add "Sir" to the credit of your sign-off?

Of course under socialism we'll all have white Bentleys and fur coats.

Not forgetting the red carpet for every comrade, of course ...

Red carpetting would be an essential prerequisite in the re-education process, naturally.

I'd look up if I were you. There seems to be something passing over your head.

Well, if that ever comes to pass, I'll sell my white Bentley because I don't want one; should get a tidy sum for that, I imagine.

(Deepest) red carpets, white Bentleys; I just don't understand this socialism thing...

All right then - black Bentleys as well.

I'm not sure where to put this so if this isn't the place apologies.
The RT pullout 'guide' cover has La Derham in Strictly fancy dress on the cover and of the 8 pages of the guide 4 are given over wholly or in large measure to her and matters related to her participation in said activity. The actual concert listings occupy less than 3 pages space wise.
I don't have a major issue with 'different' music genres appearing at the Proms, but for heaven's sake a little bit of a nod to the major part of the content - performers etc would be nice. As it is any spare space is given over to blurb from presenters et al about 'my' picks. Yes I'm sure the official Proms guide has all this and more but I really don't need that much info.....

Indeed! At this rate, it wouldn't surprise me if she'll be putting her name forward to be the next Prime Mininster!

See Draco's thread: MY this; MY the other! Sadly, Radio 3 is increasingly more about the presenter than the content.
