    It's on there now:
Programme announced 13 April & booking opens 7 May

it was on social media a couple of days before they updated their own site.

      Hiya Pucinella,

      It's not a gush it's a torrent or maybe even a waterfall.

Thank you so much for that! Great relief. Won't clash with Edinburgh or Glyndebourne.

Have just (pre)ordered my printed copy of the guide from my friendly local independent bookseller.
If I get it before the official release date (14 April) I am quite happy to torment you as I did last year!

Interesting. It's a week earlier than usual, and a Wednesday instead of the usual Thursday launch.

Here are a couple of Proms 'events' to add to the list...

'The Great British Amateur Orchestra' (working title) - a knock-out competition for five selected amateur orchestras, the winner appearing at the 'Last Night of the Proms' (I suspect at one of the Proms in the Park events) - lots of discussion about the whys and wherefores of this in the Facebook 'UK Amateur Orchestras' group. At least three orchestras I play with have entered, and two of them have had BBC film crews down to film rehearsals (prior to selection for the competition).

Countdown 2016 - the Radio 4 music quiz celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. BBC Audiences have started offering tickets for the early rounds, and the spiel attached says: "Amateur music lovers from around the UK compete for the title of Counterpoint champion 2016, and a chance to appear in the grand final at this year's BBC Proms." Pre-Prom event, perhaps?

Shome mishtake? (Might be fun to watch Third Species Countdown, though. "Consonance, consonance, consonance, dissonance, dissonance, consonance, dissonance".)

might very well be good enough for the Proms, I'd have thought... ?

Now that's my kind of concert! Great orchestra, great conductor, great programme. I was present at Rattle's CBSO Mahler 7 in 1989 so it's time for a re-run!

To divert your attention a little - I'm a bit late in reading my Private Eyes this month.

Lunchtime O'Boulez is claiming that there is little possibility of any of the Proms being broadcast on TV (live or recorded).

As discussed with a friend a few days ago the conclusion was that the BBC is run by a bunch of uncultured morons who believe that every British citizen wants to listen to third rate pop' music all day long (otherwise why does BBC4 and the red button broadcast old pop' for at least half the time).

Goodness help we classical music lovers when the axe falls.
