Quite - it's about 'outlets': embargos (-oes?) are designed to affect the distributors. If the latter break ranks and breach the embargo, that's it - it can't possibly impact on the public.

I'm surprised that with all these copies on sale in advance, members of the public haven't taken to social media and tweeted etc about Proms highlights. I had a quick look via google, and can find none...

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

There has been some chat on Twitter (which Google does not generally cover) and The Radio 3 Forum.

        But who needs paper clutter.

So: what time is it available online tomorrow?
        Hello there,

And to second Cali's question. Are details released today? (Wednesday) and at what time?

You see - I'm in desperate need of disappointment over here in Cathay

        Best Wishes,

        Tevot

And will we still have our kind friend producing a better online listing than the BBC Proms site for us?
Though I already have my printed copy, I'd still welcome comments from anyone who opts for the app.

Good morning, all! The big day is finally here! The day when this thread will no longer be about rumours for 2016, but confirmed facts for 2016.

OK, I made that last bit up (although CT, whom I have abused elsewhere for his musical conservatism, is performing Schönberg later in their season - Pelléas and Mélisande to be sure but at least it's an advance on Wagner and Strauss).

In fact the programmes over the two nights consist of a Mozart PC (KV467 - with Daniil Trifonov), the Beethoven VC (Nikolaij Znaider), Bruckner's 3rd (1877 edition), Reger's Mozart Variations and Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel. Fabulous orchestra, not quite so sure about CT
                  ....."

                  So, in American-ese, that's

9/7/16 & 9/8/16 Dresden Staatskapelle/Christian Thielemann with Daniil Trifonov and Nicolaij Znaider (don't who is on which night).
This visit is long overdue, and will surely be a highlight. Thielemann has not conducted in this country for a decade or more. Though he did pop over in January for a session with the Royal Academy Orchestra...

How many Shostakovich symphonies? Hope there're some, with Petrenko, Belohlavek or Nelsons (with CBSO)...

Hi WZG - what else floats your boat apart from Shostakovich?

                        Plenty, especially 20th-century symphonies...

                        Mahler 7
                        Nielsen 4
                        Sibelius 5
                        Prokofiev 5
                        Shostakovich 10

                        And you Tevot? Your favourites?

                          Hello there wzg,

Here are a few C20th symphonies that I find myself drawn to again and again - and wouldn't it be nice if some of them featured in the forthcoming Proms

                          Gerhard 3,4
                          Honegger: 1,2
                          Ives 4
                          Lutoslawski 2, 3
                          RVW 3, 5, 6, 8
                          Mahler 6, 9, 10
                          Nielsen 4,5,6
                          Prokofiev 6
                          Shostakovich 4, 13
                          Sibelius 3,4,5,7
                          Tippett 2, 4

                          Best Wishes,

                          Tevot

                          P.S. Is it 2:00 p.m. yet !?

Wow, you have such modern ears... Compared with your symphonies, mine are still Romantic :)
